The Shamshabad police apprehended a person alleged to be involved in five automobile theft cases under the limits of the Miyapur, Bachupally and Shadnagar police stations of the Cyberabad commissionerate and the Patancheru police station of Sangareddy district, and recovered five Bajaj autos from him.
The accused was identified as Shaik Akbar, 30, an auto driver residing at Mahamoodabad in Rajendranagar.
The police said that Akbar had committed theft of an auto for the first time right at the age of 15, in 2005, under the Rajendranagar police station limits.
Later he committed some 10 property offences between 2005 and 2019 in the limits of the Rajendranagar, Mailardevpally, Narsingi and Bowenpally police stations under the Hyderabad commissionarate.
This year, he stole five autos under various police stations.
The Shamshabad police nabbed him on Thursday and recovered five autos from his possession.
