19 Males Held For Impersonating As Transgenders

The North Zone police yesterday arrested 19 persons for impersonating as transgenders and extorting money from bus travellers, shop-keepers and other people.

The North Zone police yesterday arrested 19 persons for impersonating as transgenders and extorting money from bus travellers, shop-keepers and other people who they wrongfully restrained at traffic signals also causing traffic congestion and nuisance.

On August 18, 2023, the police patrol car staff found some persons forcibly collecting money from commuters, pedestrians, travellers and shop-keepers at crowded traffic signals at the Paradise crossroads, Sweekar Upkar junction, Jubilee bus stand and Sangeet cross roads, and took them into custody.

Cases were registered in the Mahankali police station, Ramgopalpet police station, Marredpally police station and Gopalapuram police station against them, and all the four police stations took up investigations. 19 offenders in all were brought to the four police stations.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to their guilt and said that they were males and had dressed up as females to impersonate transgenders.

Property was seized from all the offenders.
