Following a representation by the mahila morchas of different political parties, the HRC asked the government for info on its new excise policy by Sep 11.
The Human Rights Commission chairperson today asked the Telangana government to furnish information on its new excise policy by September 11.
The Commission asked this of the government following a representation submitted by the mahila morchas of different political parties and groups led by Bandaru Shobha Rani, President of the TDP Mahila Morcha.
As the government was considering introducing a cheap liquor policy from October 1, the TDP Mahila Morcha informed the Commission that the financial position and the health condition of the poor and middle class people would be affected if cheap liquor was introduced.
Shobha Rani alleged that KCR was ignoring the rights of the women in the state. In spite of opposition to the new excise policy, the former was not bothering about it.
Those who met the Commission included Akula Lalita of Congress, Uppala Sharada of BJP, Satyavati of AIDWA and Bala Lakshmi of Osmania University.
