Home Guard Held For Molesting Teenage Girl In Venkatadri Express

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a home guard of the Kodur PS of AP in the moving Venkatadri Express in the intervening night of May 28 and 29.

According to the father of the victim, hailing from Hyderabad, his wife, his daughter and he boarded the Venkatadri Express on May 28, 2024, at 6:30 pm and were travelling from Tirupathi to Kacheguda. His daughter was sleeping in the "side upper" berth.

In the moving train, the father noticed that T Prathap, Home Guard 105 of the Kodur Law & Order Police Station of AP, touched the private parts of the victim while in uniform.

Upon receipt of the complaint, the SHO, Railway Police, Kacheguda, registered a case under Cr No 100/2024 u/s 354 IPC, 9, read with 10 POCSO Act 2012, and under section 147 of the Railway Act.

On May 29, R Yellappa, Inspector of Police, RPS Kachiguda, arrested Prathap.

Prathap is a native of Railway Kodur, Pagadapalle (M), Kadapa district, of AP State, and is currently staying at plot no 55/B, Venkatreddy Nagar, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. He was produced for judicial custody before the competent court.
