The Telangana High Court today declined to pass any orders staying the upcoming GHMC elections.
It passed these orders while dealing with a batch of Public Interest Litigations (PILs).
Arguing the case on behalf of the petitioners, their counsel Rachana Reddy told the HC that reservations for the GHMC Mayor's post and corporator seats had not been done as per the GHMC Act, and urged the court to issue orders staying the elections immediately.
Responding to the plea, a division bench of the court said that it could not pass any orders as there was barely one week left for the elections, but that it would hear the petitions again December 23, and adjourned the case.
