Normal life in several parts of Telangana came to a standstill as heavy rains lashed the districts of the State on September 15, causing loss of life and property.
The Ranga Reddy district received heavy rains on Wednesday evening. Vikarabad registered a rainfall of 17 cm, Keesara 2.7 cm, Bantwaram 11.4 cm, Peddemul 8.8 cm, Chevella 8.6 cm, Shamirpet 8.4 cm, Basheerabad 4.4 cm and Tandur 3.5 cm.
One person died and seven others were reportedly washed away in the floods. The status of the seven isn't known yet.
There were enormous inconveniences and losses, too. Vehicular traffic between Tandur and Mahabubnagar remained paralyzed for hours after a bridge on the Kagna rivulet was breached by flood water. Two bikes and a car were washed away due to strong water currents between Rallachittempally and Shillaram in Vikarabad mandal.
In the Nalgonda district, transport facilities in several villages came to a halt as the roads were flooded. Several crops were destroyed in Yadagirigutta, Turkapally and other mandals of the district, causing heavy losses to the farmers.
