As torrential showers continue to lash Telangana, the rains in the state have claimed four lives in the last twenty fours hours.
In one incident that took place near the Kurraram tank in Alair's Rajapeta village, in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, two women were washed away due to the discharge from the inundated tank.
According to the reports of the locals, the two victims, identified as Sindhuja and Bindu, were going towards Kurraram from Itukalapally when they were washed away by the powerful currents of the water.
The police have launched search operations to locate their bodies.
In a separate incident, two women, including a newly married one, were swept away while the vehicle in which they were travelling was crossing a bridge on the overflowing Thimmapur canal in Vikarabad district.
The bodies of the bride, Pravalika, and the other woman, Swetha, have been retrieved from the canal. Currently, the police are still searching for the body of eight-year-old Ishant Reddy who was also swept away. The groom, Nawaz Reddy, his sister, and the driver, Raghavender Reddy, were fortunately able to escape.
Reddy and Pravalika had gotten married on August 26. They had been returning to their village after attending a ceremony when the incident took place.
IMD reports suggest that the state is likely to continue to experience heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places across many districts tomorrow as well.
