The meteorological department has warned that there might be heavy to very heavy rainfall over isolated parts of Telangana, especially in the erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam, in the next two days.
Massive flooding and water-logging in low-lying areas, falling of trees and electric poles, and overflowing of reservoirs, tanks and streams causing inundation of low-lying areas, low bridges and causeways, posing threats to traffic and people, are all being foreseen by the government.
Heavy rainfall was reported from several places in the state on Sunday, too.
The situation is serious enough for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao himself to ask people of the state to be careful and alert.
The CM also instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to keep the entire official machinery on the high alert, and asked for all officials to stay put in their places, watch the situation and extend the necessary relief measures.
Somesh Kumar dutifully instructed the various district administrations to gear up to tackle the problems likely to be caused by the rains. He asked the Collectors, SPs, CPs and others to act swiftly to handle any eventuality.
