The city saw heavy rains in the past 24 hours, blocking several roads and uprooting trees. The tar blankets that were laid in many areas for CoP-11 were washed away.
The traffic was slow not due to water stagnation but due to uprooted trees. A highest level of 3 cm of rain was recorded at Qutbullapur till 8:30am on Tuesday. However, the city did not see much traffic, since Tuesday was a public holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
Many roads that were laid for CoP-11 were washed away, and authorities fear that another 24 hours of rain would wash the black tar completely off and that the roads would have to be re-carpeted.
Water-logging incidents were reported at police control rooms in many areas such as Narayanguda, Punjagutta, Erragadda, Ameerpet, Basheerbagh and near the Assembly.
Meanwhile, citizens complain that their calls were not adhered to by the emegency cells of officials.
