The state High Court, on Thursday, rejected the lunch motion petition filed by the CBI, which sought a 3-day extension of the custody of YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy, who was arrested in connection with the case of his disproportionate assets.
The High Court, while refusing to extend the CBI's custody of Jagan, asked the probing agency to explain why it was seeking the extension on an immediate basis. The court said that it could accept the petition in the format of a lunch motion.
The High Court, rejecting the CBI's petition, also directed it to file a fresh petition in this regard by Friday.
Earlier, the CBI had sought a 10-day custody of Jagan. However, the court granted it only 5 days of his custody. (INN)
