HC Permits ED To Quiz Jagan
The Enforcement Directorate has been permitted to question Jagan about his alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Friday, permitted the Enforcement Directorate to question YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy over his alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
While giving the permission to the Enforcement Directorate, the court said that the agency could question Jagan from 7 to 21 July.
The court said that Jagan may be grilled from 10am to 5pm at Chanchalguda Jail, in the presence of his lawyers. The court also directed the agency not to use any third degree methods during the investigations.
Earlier, Jagan's counsel filed a counter-petition in the court, opposing the proposed questioning of his client, and argued that his client was no longer the managing director or the chairman of Jagathi Publications Limited.
It may be mentioned here that the Enforcement Directorate has booked Jagan for violating FEMA and PMLA, and had sought the court's permission to question him. (INN)
