Hawk Eye App By City Police Helps Trace Lost Mobiles

The app enables users to report the loss of their mobile phones, and the Commissioner's office tries to track such phones using their IMEI numbers.

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner has appealed to the citizens to download the Hawk Eye mobile app to benefit from a various ranges of features including cross-checking the IMEI code before purchasing a second hand mobile phone, with the database of lost mobiles' IMEI numbers.

The Hyderabad police, as part of its citizen friendly and responsive policing approach, launched Hawk Eye to empower the public to become citizen police, and nearly 8.96 lakh people are reported to have downloaded the application so far. Among others, the app enables its users to report the loss of their mobile phones, and the IT team at the Commissioner's office tries to track such phones using their IMEI numbers. As a part of this endeavour, the team has been successful in recovering 24 mobile phones so far, worth Rs 2 lakhs.
