Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao today alleged that his official residence in Siddipet was attacked by Congress workers on Friday night.
"The attack by the Congress leaders in the middle of the night is proof of injustice. Breaking the locks. Destruction of property. It is undemocratic. It is as if the police have provided protection to the accused without stopping the attack (sic)," he alleged in a tweet.
He asked what assurance could be given to the people on their security if an MLA's residence was not safe in the State, and demanded that the DGP take action in the incident.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao too condemned the attack. In a tweet, he asked how a senior MLA could face such an attack.
"In the 10 years that the BRS ruled, there were no such vendetta attacks. The Congress is behaving in a despicable manner. People are watching all this. The correct answer will be given," he said.
In another post, he tagged congress leader Rahul Gandhi. "Is this the change in your Congress rule? They are running a hate shop in love bazaar," he said, and asked how a person who claimed to be protecting the Constitution did not see these things.
For the uninitiated, high drama took place in Siddipet late on Friday night. The local Congress leaders put up flexes near Rao's camp office demanding his resignation citing that the farmers' loans had been waived off by the Congress government by August 15 as promised (Rao had vowed to resign if Revanth Reddy stuck to that promise). They raised slogans demanding the resignation of Rao. Angered at this, the supporters of Rao and other BRS activists came to Rao's camp office to remove the flexes. A large number of the Congress and BRS activists too then gathered on the road in the middle of the night. Tension prevailed for a while with their competing slogans. The police dispersed the agitators and took some to the police station.
