The special Haj flights carrying more than 6,000 pilgrims from the state of Andhra Pradesh will commence from September 29.
A review meeting involving various government departments and organizations was held at the GMR Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday to look after the arrangements being made at the airport.
According to the schedule provided by the Saudi Arabian Airlines, the first flight will take off on September 29, and the operation will continue till October 16. The pilgrims will start returning from November 11, and the last flight will land on November 30.
The state Haj Committee has suggested the provision of various amenities for both the pilgrims and the visitors coming to the airport to see off their near ones during the Haj camp in 2011.
The GMR authorities have agreed to provide facilities to the pilgrims and the visitors at the Haj Terminal at the airport.
The A P State Haj Committee, headed by Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed, has selected 6,143 pilgrims from across the state by drawing lots. Pilgrims above the age of 70 were selected under the reserved category.
The committee is conducting an orientation program at Hyderabad, district headquarters and other places. (INN)
