Minorities Welfare Department Special Secretary Syed Omar Jaleel on Saturday said that the state government would repay Rs. 74 lakh towards the 50% share of what Haj pilgrims had paid as airport user charges during Haj 2013.
Speaking to media persons at Haj House, Omar Jaleel said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had promised to 7,756 Haj pilgrims last year that the government would bear 50% of their airport user charges. "Fulfilling his promise, the Chief Minister has cleared the concerned file, and now, it is pending with the Finance Department," he said.
He said that the amount would be released soon and directly deposited in the bank accounts of Haj pilgrims. Once released, each pilgrim will get an amount of Rs. 1,910.
With regard to the new Haj House building, Omar Jaleel said that a detailed report would be submitted to the state government next week, and that a final decision on the issue would be taken based on it.
