GVK EMRI Sets Up A 50 Bedded Multi-Specialty Hospital

The GVK EMRI set up a 50-bedded multi-specialty hospital at its 108 GVK EMRI headquarters near Kompally on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The GVK EMRI set up a 50-bedded multi-specialty hospital at its 108 GVK EMRI headquarters near Kompally on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

This facility will become functional now and will cater exclusively to Covid-19 patients the organisation disclosed in a press note issued today. It also said that it would provide free treatment to Covid-19 patients.

"We have taken this initiative to supplement the efforts of the government of Telangana to serve the poor and vulnerable sections of society. To begin with, the newly functional GVK EMRI Hospital currently has a capacity of 30 oxygen beds, 10 non-oxygen beds, and 10 ICU beds. There is also a provision of single room accommodation. Qualified doctors and nurses were trained at the NIMS for clinical case management of Covid-19. They will be manning the hospital. Patient care assistants, housekeeping and security staff have also been trained in infection prevention and control.
Medical specialists from the University of Michigan will provide medical guidance for case management admitted at GVK EMRI hospital. The facility also has a Covid lab and pharmacology support. It also has a 24x7 ambulance service and will provide three meals a day to patients.," the note disclosed.

Further, it revealed that to get admission, patients would need to produce a positive RT-PCR test report.

"Admission will be subject to clinical assessment criteria. Suspected Covid-19 patients and post Covid-19 patients are expected to benefit from this hospital. Critical case specialists on call are also available along with a dedicated ambulance for transfers. GVK EMRI is also planning to organise vaccination programs soon. GVK EMRI is committed to providing care to Covid-19 patients during the pandemic. Hospital services will continue after the pandemic as a multi-specialty hospital," the note stated.

As is well known, the GVK EMRI is a not-for-profit organisation. It is the largest ambulatory care provider in the world, providing emergency medical services coverage to 800 million people across India.

The organisation's emergency services have saved more than 43 lakh lives. It provides emergency help to 22,000 cases every day. The GVK EMRI model of pre-hospital care services was replicated in Sri Lanka as well.
