Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy today urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to expedite the payment of outstanding bills amounting to Rs 361.35 crore for civil works completed under the Mana Vooru Mana Badi scheme.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Gutha said that small and economically disadvantaged contractors, and members of Amma Adarsh School Committees, had taken up these works by borrowing funds, and were facing severe financial distress due to the prolonged delay in payments.
He also said that resolving the financial woes of small contractors and school committees had been a long-pending issue in Telangana, and called upon the State government to release the pending bills without further delay.
The Mana Vooru Mana Badi scheme, launched in 2022, is a flagship program aimed at upgrading infrastructure and improving facilities in government schools across Telangana. The initiative focuses on modernising classrooms, providing better drinking water facilities, building compound walls and enhancing digital learning infrastructure. Implemented in phases, the scheme seeks to create a more conducive learning environment for students, while also engaging local contractors and school committees in its execution.
