Candidates aspiring for Group I and Group II posts, on Friday, appealed to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to complete the recruitment process through the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) as early as possible.
The candidates, after submitting a memorandum to the CM at his camp office, appealed to him to merge the new vacancies (that resulted from retirements) with the old notification, and to complete the process early.
The candidates stated that about 200 vacancies in Group I and 5,000 vacancies in Group II can be filled through the notification issued earlier, and that there was no need to conduct any tests.
The chief minister assured them that he would consider their demand after discussing them with APPSC and other department officials concerned.
The candidates threatened to begin an indefinite hunger fast at Indira Park from January 3 if the state government does not come out with a decision on their demand by then.
