Despite an almost total
shutdown in the entire Telangana region due to the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission has finalised its preparations to hold the Group-I (Mains) examination from 25 September to 3 October.
The examination will be conducted in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Warangal and Tirupati, from 10am to 1pm.
Elaborate security arrangements are being made at 12 centres in Hyderabad, and at Warangal, for the examination.
Meanwhile, the State Human Rights Commission on Saturday refused to grant a stay on the Group I exams, on the grounds that they do not fall under its purview.
Earlier, after the state High Court rejected certain aspirants' appeal to postpone the Group I main examination, these aspirants approached the State Human Rights Commission, seeking to defer examination by at least for 45 days, keeping in view the Telangana agitation.
However, the HRC stated that administrative decisions of the APPSC do not come under its jurisdiction, and rejected the appeal.
The Group-I aspirants also approached Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana to prevail upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to postpone the examination. Botsa has assured the aspirants that he would try to convince the CM.
Meanwhile, Infrastructure Minsiter Komatreddi Venkatreddy and AICC Secretary P Sudhakar Reddy, too, demanded that the exams be postponed.
They said that nearly 5,000 students from the Telangana region would not able to participate in the exam due to the ongoing general strike. (INN)
