About 10.44 lakh candidates on Sunday took the Group-4 written examination conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2,894 centres across the state for the vacant 638 posts, about 1600 aspirants for each post.
Approximately 7 lakhs hall tickets were downloaded from the internet by the aspirants.
East Godavari saw the maximum number of candidates (72,700) taking the exam, while the the number of 31,450 aspirants from Nellore was the lowest.
Some of the candidates were not allowed in a few centres for being late.
Earlier, the APPSC had conducted the Group-1 examination despite protests by students from Telangana who sought clarification from the government whether 40% of the qualified aspirants from the region would be assured of jobs.
The state government had deployed heavy security for the examination. Some of the students managed to evade the security net and make their way into the Institute of Advance Studies by scaling the compound wall and barge into the examination hall.
