The ceremonial wedding of Lord Rama and goddess Sita was once again held in a grand manner in the famous Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam of the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Sunday, after low-key celebrations in the last two years due to the pandemic.
Ministers Indrakaran Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod and Puvvada Ajay Kumar presented the traditional silk clothes (pattu vastrams) and mutyala talambralu given by the State government to the temple.
On behalf of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), its Chairman Y V Subba Reddy too presented silk clothes to the temple.
This time, devotees in large numbers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and other parts of the country thronged the temple to watch the ceremony, held at the Mithila Stadium in the town.
Over the last two years the ceremony was held in a muted manner and devotees were restricted, due to the Covid outbreak. With the pandemic abating, the government decided to conduct the event in the open and on a grand scale once again. The temple management allocated Rs 2 crore for the arrangements this year.
The temple officials arranged drinking water, buttermilk and air coolers in the kalyana mandapam. Special LED TVs were set up at vantage points.
Keeping in view the Maoist influence in the district, the police made foolproof arrangements with 2,100 personnel.
The district Collectors of Khammam and Bhadrachalam-Kothagudem, and other senior officials from various departments were present.
