Breaking his self-imposed boycott of the media, Dr. Rao said that as per the order worth Rs. 105 crore, the A P State Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society Limited (APSHWCS), popularly called as APCO, was expected to supply 52,66,837 uniforms to the Rajiv Vidya Mission.
He was speaking to media persons at the Secretariat, where some sections of the press, keeping in mind the earlier boycott threat made by the Minister, skipped the briefing.
The Minister informed that the tailor groups have agreed to reduce Rs. 1 on each uniform stitched by them. This apart, 10cm of cloth for each uniform was also saved, he revealed.
Though the deadline for total supply has been fixed for April 30, the Minister explained that the time was extended to June considering the problems arising at the work spot.
