Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday stated that the government is mulling a proposal to provide reservation in the education and employment sectors, for those who participate in activities related to the protection of the environment, on the lines of National Cadet Course candidates.
Talking to media persons after inaugurating the 4–day conference of National Green Corps at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) Auditorium, the Chief Minister said that the government would implement reservation for the students who participate in environmental awareness activities, in education and jobs after discussing with officials concerned.
Rosaiah called upon environmental organizations and experts to focus on providing a clean environment, for posterity.
The Chief Minister called upon parents to guide children and create awareness on the environment.
The state is hosting the first ever National Conference Of Children And Youth, under the aegis of the National Green Corps.
AP is considered to be the foremost in implementation of the 10-year-old National Green Corps environmental education programs in the country, by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
The conference will focus on the exchange of ideas on environmental programs, and will recognise the efforts of children in environment conservation.
About 150 representatives from 18 states attended the conference. Forest Minister P Ramachandra Reddy was also present on the ocassion.
