The Health and Sanitation Wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Wednesday conducted surprise inspections on 18 eating establishments in and around the Nampally and Hanuman Tekdi areas.
The surprise inspections, conducted by 3 special teams, found one eatery posing danger to public health, and closed it down.
According to GHMC officials, the Hambis Cafe opposite Nampally railway station was closed down due to the unhygienic conditions in its premises.
4 other eating establishments were prosecuted for violation of GHMC by-laws for the Regulation Of Eating Houses Or Hotels, 1973.
These 4 eating establishments were identified as Pragathi Tiffin Centre, Hanuman Tekdi, Mangal Vihar, Nampally, Adithya Mess, Nampally Crossroads and Dream Land, Nampally.
Further, 6 notices were issued to eating establishments to rectify the defects found.
The GHMC also requested all hotel owners to maintain their kitchen and premises in hygienic conditions. They said they must provide wholesome drinking water and serve freshly prepared food to their customers.
