GHMC Seeks Rs. 1000 Crore
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sought Rs. 1,000 crore from Kiran Kumar Reddy for providing better facilities to the city's residents.
Hyderabad Mayor B Karthika Reddy and Deputy Mayor Jaffar Hussain on Monday urged Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to release Rs. 1,000 crore to provide better infrastructure facilities to people.
Submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister on behalf of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at the Chief Minister's Camp Office, the Mayor said the area of GHMC expanded vastly after the merger of 12 surrounding municipalities in the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad to form the GHMC in the year 2007.
She said that Rs. 1,000 crore was needed to provide better amenities and to develop all areas in the GHMC limits.
As the GHMC was running with deficit budget and was not able to attend all works with its own resources, Karthika Reddy said the state government's assistance was very much needed to provide upgraded facilities.
GHMC Congress Floor Leader Kaleru Venkatesham and AIMIM Floor Leader Mirza Mustafa Baig also supported the demand.
