GHMC Pleads For Saving Power
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has appealed to all the businesses, malls, hotels and even households in the Hyderabad to reduce the usage of power.

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has appealed to all the business establishments, shopping malls, hotels and even households in the city to reduce the usage of power.
The Commissioner made this appeal during an interactive meeting he had convened with the major advertising agencies, hoteliers and business establishments.
He requested them to reduce the usage of power so as to help the farmers who were very badly in need of power as their crops were in the final stages.
He instructed the advertising agencies to cut short the usage of power for billboards and major hoardings.
He requested them to utilize power only from 6 pm to 10 pm wherever possible, to save energy.
Somesh Kumar said that the GHMC had taken up a project for conversion of the existing street lights into LEDs. The pilot project implemented in some of the areas of the West Zone had been successful, leading to a saving of nearly 60 per cent of the regular usage.
He said that all the street lights in the GHMC limits would be replaced with LEDs in the coming months, after getting approval from the Standing Committee.
Responding to the request of the Commissioner, T Nagaraju, President, Telangana Hotels Association, assured that he would request all the hoteliers in Telangana to reduce power consumption.
The Commissioner also said that the GHMC had a database of 10 lakh phone numbers of the households who were paying property tax and such, and was planning to send them a message to cooperate with the GHMC in saving power.
He directed all the Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and senior officials of all the wings to reduce the power consumption in all their offices. (INN)
