GHMC Polls: TDP Complains Over TRS "Code Violations"
The Telangana TDP complained to the State Election Commission that the TRS government had announced some schemes in violation of the poll code to lure voters.
Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy today complained to the State Election Commission that the Telangana TRS government had announced some schemes in violation of the poll code to lure voters in the upcoming GHMC elections.
Speaking to the media at NTR Trust Bhavan, Reddy said his Party had lodged a complaint with the EC about some recent decisions publicized by the State government.
Citing news items pertaining to the expansion of the railway line of MMTS from Hyderabad to Yadadri, construction of a four-lane bridge near Durgam Chervu and calling of tenders for the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project, he said that those announcements were violations of the election code.
The TDP leader said that his Party had requested the Election Commission to also treat these news reports (published in a daily owned by the ruling Party leader) as paid news.
Reddy asked the State Election Commission to initiate a probe into these violations.
Besides with the Election Commission, he said that his Party would also raise these issues with the Press Council of India.
He also asked the EC to declare disqualified, any contesting candidate found spending more than Rs five lakhs as stipulated by it.
