The proposal sent by the Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for delimitation of the GHMC wards into 200 was found impractical.
The strength of the elected ward members of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been retained at 150.
The proposal sent by the Commissioner & Special Officer, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, for delimitation of the GHMC wards into 200 was found impractical as it would be difficult to maintain the natural boundaries of the wards. If the number of wards were increased to 200, there would be a lot of pressure on the existing manpower at the circle and sub-circle levels. The co-ordination at the head office would also be better with 150 wards instead of 200, it was felt.
Therefore, the strength of the elected members for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been retained at 150 by the State government as per the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Fixation of Strength of Elected Members) Rules, 2005, issued in GO Ms. No. 328, MA & UD (Elec. II) Department, dated 20.04.2005.
Accordingly, a notification shall be published in the extraordinary issue of the Telangana Gazette, dated September 30.
