The GHMC asks citizens to report unauthorized / dilapidated buildings through the 24x7 Call Centre (040-21111111), so it can initiate action immediately.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar denied reports that the GHMC was concentrating only on smaller buildings leaving aside the bigger ones.
The Commissioner on Wednesday clarified that many owners of plots below 200 sq. yds. in area were taking permissions for G+1 buildings and instead werer constructing 2 to 3 floors unauthorisedly. For this reason the GHMC had taken up demolitions, and was working in a phased manner by identifying the worst violating buildings.
He said that since Tuesday more than 100 calls had been received by the GHMC Call Centre with regard to complaints about unauthorized constructions in various parts of the city. The GHMC was making a note of those grievances, and directions were being given to the concerned Assistant City Planners for verifying the same to take up the demolitions on priority, he said.
The Commissioner appealed to the citizens while representing their grievances through the 24x7 Call Centre (040-21111111) to furnish the details of the unauthorized buildings / dilapidated buildings, such as premise no., area, landmark etc., so that the GHMC could initiate action immediately.
Somesh Kumar said that so far the GHMC had identified 900 unauthorised buildings, and was taking up demolitions in all the 18 circles. While 6 buildings were demolished on Tuesday, the GHMC had today demolished 19 buildings.
The Commissioner requested the citizens not to construct the buildings without obtaining permissions as the GHMC had made obtaining building permissions much easier now. (INN)
