GHMC Delegation Impressed By Other Corporations
A delegation of Congress corporators of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation return impressed from their study tour of other city municipal corporations.
The municipal corporations in major cities are meeting more frequently than the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation could ever imagine.
This was the prime observation of the delegation of Congress corporators who went on a study tour to the cities of Jaipur, Pune, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar told reporters that the municipal corporations in these cities meet "very frequently" (at least once in a month).
In fact, the Jaipur corporation sometimes convenes meetings upto four times a month. The sub-committees of these corporations also hold meetings on a regular basis.
The Deputy Mayor said that the GHMC corporators were a bit hesitant to reveal that they meet twice or thrice a year. He said that the good practices of other municipal corporations should be followed by the GHMC.
The delegation of corporators, which was deployed for this study tour, included Congress floor leader D Rambabu and YSRCP's Kaleru Venkatesh.
The delegation will soon submit a report to GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain and Commissioner M T Krishna Babu about its findings, observations and suggestions. (INN)
