GHMC Assures Better Arrangements For Ganesh Festival
The corporation will be spending Rs. 11.5 crores for ensuring proper infrastructure and cleanliness for the festival in Hyderabad.

GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain requested the city MLAs and the members of the Ganesh Utsav Committee to give their suggestions on the civic-related problems of the various relevant locations for the smooth conduct of the Ganesh festival and the immersion procession.
The GHMC will be taking care of the entire sanitation, electrical and street lighting works on the procession route, and as well as the clearing of the debris on the routes.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the corporation would be spending around Rs. 11.5 crores for the works. He said that most of the amount would be spent on roads, street lights, pruning of trees and lifting of debris on the procession routes.
The Commissioner also said that the GHMC would be taking up 100% patch works, pot-hole filling and all the road-repairing works on all the routes of the procession.
As many as 130 locations have been identified, and 13,000 additional lights are being arranged in the procession routes.
The Commissioner said that the Ganesh Utsav Committee members had interacted with the Hyderabad Collector, the Ranga Reddy Joint Collector, the Commissioner of Police, the Electricity Department and the Health Department, and had given their suggestions for the bandobast, drinking water arrangements, uninterrupted power supply, medical camps etc., and that the heads of the departments had assured them that every suggestion would be attended to.
Some of the Committee members and MLAs have requested the Mayor and the Commissioner to conduct coordination meetings at the Zonal and Circle levels so that the local problems could be given enough attention.
City MLAs Dr. K Laxman, Chintala Ramchandra Reddy and Raja Singh, Floor Leaders Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, Diddi Ram Babu, Bangari Prakash and Mohd Nazeeruddin, and senior officials from various government departments participated in the meeting. (INN)
