The Lok Satta chief, Jaya Prakash Narayan, has put forth the Lok Satta’s official stance on the current political and civil situation in the state today.
He has asked citizens to stop believing that fasts-to-death get them anything, and requested people to think of their own lives and future, and their families’ as well, before resorting to extreme steps. Rail rokos, rasta rokos and bandhs deeply affect the common man and must be stopped, he said. JP even hinted that these demonstrations were all for the benefit of the television-viewing audience.
JP said that there was no harm in nurturing certain beliefs and even expressing them, but urged people to keep their modes of expression peaceful. In this regard, he also asked the media to use its power to stop the agitation and unrest, and not aggravate people’s sentiments.
According to him, people are currently trying to be a part of the problem and not of the solution. He said that merely separate statehood will not miraculously solve any problem, and that it is foolish to believe otherwise.
People ought to be enraged against the corruption and the politics that have provoked them, he stressed. Hatred and discrimination – based on caste, region or religion – are not the solution, the Lok Satta president said.
He said that an amicable resolution for everyone must be worked out, but the first step for any decision in this matter is to cool the situation down and bring peace back. According to him, empowering citizens and inspiring confidence in them is the way out of the quandary.

"empowering citizens and inspiring confidence in them is the way out of the quandary." Wonderful JP!! That is exactly what Hyderabad and entire Telangana is looking forward to when eventurally a state is formed. Empowerment of people is a pre-requisite for a strong leaders to emerge. So far the weak and meek from this region have been elevated to high posts. People power (and I mean everyone - Andhra/Seema - wherever)
