Government Chief Whip in the Legislative Assembly, Gandra Venkatramana Reddy, said that it was incorrect to link the naxal problem with smaller states.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, Gandra said that the naxal problem was not related to the size of a state, but to the socio-economic conditions prevailing in that state.
Citing the example of Kerala, he said that despite being small, Kerala was not facing naxal problems.
He also dismissed the reports that theChief Minister fears that there will be an increase in Naxalism in case a separate Telangana state is formed.
Gandra said that all leaders from the Congress party are going to abide by the decision of the party high command with regards to the Telangana issue. (INN)
