The CBI special court at Nampally, on Thursday, refused to grant permission to the CBI seeking to bring former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy's personal assistant Ali Khan on a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant to Hyderabad from Bangalore in connection with the Obulapuram Mining Corporation illegal mining case.
Refusing permission to the CBI, the special court observed that the CBI could as well file charges against Ali Khan from Hyderabad.
However, the CBI stated that Ali Khan's presence is needed to get further information in the Obulapuram Mining Corporation illegal mining case.
Earlier, Ali Khan's counsel opposed the CBI's petition of bringing his client on a PT warrant. The counsel said that the CBI had incorrectly mentioned in its memo that Ali Khan was an accused, and added that the investigating agency had also not incorporated his name either in the FIR or in the chargesheet.
