Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday said that the state government was on high alert with respect to coronavirus (COVID-19).
He said that the responsibility to keep the virus at bay in the state lay on the government's shoulders, and that the government was fully up to that. He told the people not to worry about the virus, and that the government was ready to spend Rs 5,000 crore if necessary to prevent the virus in the state.
He made these remarks while replying to a short discussion held on the impact of coronavirus in the state and the measures taken by the government to contain it, in the Assembly.
KCR added that the government had been making all the necessary arrangements to tackle the virus ever since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Telangana, and was fully equipped to handle it now. Stocks of masks, suits and sanitizers had been ready for distribution as part of the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus, he said.
Referring to the first corona positive person from the state, the CM said that the person had been completely cured and was discharged from Gandhi Hospital. He said that two more persons from the state had developed coronavirus infection symptoms, and that their samples had been sent to the NIV in Pune.
"If any suspected cases are discovered at the airport, the persons are being immediately quarantined. We have already zeroed in on isolated locations like the Dhoolapally Forest Academy and Haritha Resorts at Vikarabad among others to keep such persons, and we have established isolation wards in several government and private hospitals to treat positive cases of the virus," he said.
