Four inter-state drug peddlers were nabbed by the Hyderabad police for transporting narcotic drugs from Bengaluru to Hyderabad.
The cops also seized 12 grams of heroin and four mobile phones all worth Rs 1,50,000.
Acting on a tip-off, the Saroor Nagar police busted the drug racket in the early hours of Wednesday and arrested Syed Aamir Moiz, Mohammed Saad, Palem Nivas and Mailapally Venkat Ranganadha Chary.
The police raided the house of Ranganadha Chary at Karmanghat and apprehended the four, and seized 12 gram of heroin and four mobile phones from their possession.
The police warned people that procuring, selling, transportation and consumption of the banned narcotic substances was a crime, and punishable by imprisonment for a period of 10 years.
According to Section 31A of the NDPS Act, the death sentence can be awarded to a drug trafficker convicted even once under the NDPS Act.
The police appealed to the people to inform them about any drug traffickers, suppliers or consumers, especially at colleges/hostels, to enable the former to curb the menace.
