The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has suspended from the party senior Congress leader and former union minister Sarve Satyanarayana for making derogatory remarks against AICC leader in charge of Telangana affairs R C Kuntia and TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy during a review meeting to find out the reasons for the defeats of party candidates belonging to the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.
Sarve had also taken part in the meeting as he had contested the Assembly elections from the Secunderabad Cantonment seat, which is part of the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, and lost.
Sarve had reportedly alleged in the meeting that both Kuntia and Reddy were totally responsible for the defeat of all the party candidates of the constituency.
He also asked how those who were responsible for the defeat of the party candidates could hold the review meeting, and warned that he would lodge a complaint against both of them with the party high command.
The allegations by Sarve shocked those present in the meeting and made them reprimand the former union minister. This made Sarve even more aggressive. He said that he would make public the other reasons for the "unceremonious" defeat of the party on Monday, and left the conference room in a huff.
Addressing media persons later, Sarve said that he would not ignore or forgive the party leaders who had caused his defeat.
Separately, party leader B Kishan alleged that Sarve had attacked him with a water bottle when he (Kishan) had tried to stop him. He also alleged that Sarve had used abusive language against Kuntia. He demanded that the party suspend the former union minister from the party immediately. Almost immediately, the TPCC suspended Sarve from the party.
