Former DSP Nalini, who resigned from her post during the separate Telangana State agitation, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in response to his direction to the DGP to reinstate her in her post.
She thanked the CM for the affection shown by him towards her. She however declined to take up the job saying that she had already renounced the world and joined a religious order.
The letter was written emotionally, with Nalini saying that the CM's warmth had given great freedom to her heart and that she had tears in her eyes at the gesture. She said that the gesture got her to recall her past that which moved in front of her eyes like a reel.
She also urged the CM to extend support to her to enable her to serve her religious campaign instead of offering her the job.
At a time when the Telangana movement was at its peak, Nalini had resigned from the post of DSP saying that she could not resort to a lathi-charge on the Telangana statehood agitators. In the nine-and-a-half years since the State's formation, she was not mentioned by any other ruler, and the previous government did not recognise her sacrifice.
Revanth Reddy recently issued orders that Nalini should be reinstated immediately if she was interested in getting her job back. The CM made a special mention of Nalini during the recent police department review, and instructed the Chief Secretary and the DGP to take her back immediately. He also said that if the department rules prevented her from getting the same post, she should be given an equivalent post in a different department with the same rank.
