The annual distribution of fish prasadam, regarded as a treatment for asthma by many, will take place at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally from 10 am on June 8 to 10 am on June 9.
The Bathini family distributes the fish prasadam free once a year, in collaboration with the State government and various voluntary organisations. This offering is intended for individuals affected by asthma and other respiratory ailments.
This year, the Mrigasira Karthi ceremony will commence at 10 am on Sunday, June 8, and the Bathini Goud family will begin distributing the prasadam on that day.
During a media briefing today, Bathini Amarnath Goud, the son of the late Bathini Harinath Goud, along with family members including Shivasankar Goud, Gouri Shankara Goud, Chandrashekar Goud, Santhosh Goud and Shiva Goud, announced that the State government was fully supporting the smooth execution of the prasadam distribution, and expressed hope for the event's success.
Amarnath Goud said that for nearly 200 years their family had been providing the fish prasadam to individuals suffering from respiratory issues like asthma, bronchitis and cough, offering this service selflessly and at no cost, without any expectation of return.
He added that volunteer groups such as the Agarwal Seva Dal were offering free food, coffee, tea, buttermilk and drinking water to patients. He also said that emergency medical services would be available, and volunteers would be stationed to assist patients waiting in line.
Amarnath Goud also mentioned that several departments were co-ordinating over the preparations, including the Hyderabad district administration, the police, the GHMC, the water works board, the RTC, the electricity department and the fisheries department, promising a smooth experience.
The Bathini family urged people with asthma to take advantage of the opportunity.
