The party said that given the failure of the GHMC in controlling dengue, free fogging services would be provided by it in Hyderabad to control mosquitos.

The Hyderabad City Congress Committee (HCCC) Minorities Department Chairman Sameer Waliullah informed that free fogging services would be provided in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad to control the mosquito menace.
Waliullah said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had failed to control the mosquito menace which had consequently resulted in an outbreak of dengue, malaria and other vector-borne diseases. And despite the alarming rise in such diseases, the GHMC had not taken up fogging operations across Hyderabad on a large scale. Therefore, the party had decided to conduct fogging operations in the affected areas privately, he said.
The Congress leader said that a helpline number had been started that people could call on if they wished to conduct fogging in their neighbourhood - people could call on 9100109111 and their request would be listed, and the fogging machine, along with operators, would be sent.
People could also send a request through the Twitter handle @sameerwaliullah, he said.
He added that anti-larval treatment would also be undertaken at sources of stagnated water like tanks in individual residences. Medical camps would also be organised in different areas to provide free check-ups and medicines for dengue and other viral diseases, he said.
Waliullah alleged that the health conditions in Hyderabad had turned from bad to worse during this monsoon. The GHMC officials had been making tall claims of having taken up fogging and anti-larval operations in their limits, but the number of vector-borne diseases reported in the hospitals showed that the civic authorities were either lying or did not do their jobs properly. He said that the GHMC had conducted fogging and anti-larval operations just in a symbolic manner, neglecting the intensity of the situation. Due to that lack of application, even now, though there were no rains in the city for a while, several cases of dengue, malaria and other similar diseases were still being reported, he claimed.
Since the GHMC authorities appeared in no mood to help the people, he said that the Congress had decided to hire fogging machines in a private capacity to engage in the battle against the vector-borne diseases, he said.
Waliullah sought the cooperation of all the workers of Congress in this initiative, urging them to actively participate in the campaign.
