Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday stated that discussions on the problems faced by farmers would be given top priority in the 6-day long winter session of the state Assembly commencing today.
Talking to media persons after conducting an aerial survey of rain-affected parts of Guntur district, the Chief Minister said that the government would make all efforts for helping the farmers in distress.
He directed agriculture and district officials to take all rescue and relief operations in flood-hit areas on war footing.
Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the agriculture officials to estimate the loss occurred to crops immediately, and submit a report to the government.
The Chief Minister directly interacted with farmers in Penumudi in the district to get firsthand knowledge about their problems.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government would reschedule the loans of farmers, and issue orders in this direction soon.
He said that the government had identified 467 mandals in various districts as rain-hit, and had taken steps for releasing crop insurance and in-put subsidy for farmers.
The government would have a meeting with bankers soon to sanction new loans for Rabi season, the Chief Minister said.
Later, he left for conducting an aerial survey of East Godavari district.
