The Telangana Congress on Thursday expressed its shock over the death of a farmer Yellaiah in Dubbaka mandal of Siddipet district while standing in a queue to procure urea.
The party held the State government responsible for the plight of the farmers in the State.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has already written a letter to the Chief Minister on the issue urging him to initiate steps to help farmers in procuring urea.
Dubbing the State government as anti-farmer, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi alleged that the government had failed to solve the problem of urea shortage in the State despite repeated pleas. He demanded that the State government extend all possible help to the family members of the deceased farmer.
Ravi also condemned the arrest of Congress leaders and farmers in the Kollapur Assembly constituency of Nagarkurnool district. Alleging that local MLA Harshavardhan Reddy was behind the "illegal" arrest of Congress leaders, Mallu demanded that the government release the Congress leaders and farmers.
