Farm Utilities Set Ablaze In AP New Capital Region
Several farmers in five villages of the Guntur district lost their crops and other utilities after the latter were allegedly set ablaze by some miscreants.
Several farmers in five villages of the Guntur district lost their standing crops and other farm utilities after the latter were allegedly set ablaze by some miscreants.
The farm utilities were set ablaze in a pattern in the Penamaka, Undavalli, Venkatapalem, Uddamrayinipalem and Mandadam villages on Sunday night.
These villages fall in the region proposed for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Incidentally, the farmers who lost their crops have been opposing the land pooling, and have refused to part with their lands for the new capital.
The mystery fire caused heavy damage to paddy stacks, banana orchards, horticulture crops and huts.
The Guntur Rural police have formed special search teams to nab the culprits. It is suspected that a psycho is behind the incident. However, some villagers have alleged a larger conspiracy, and contended that the farmers who opposed land pooling were selectively targeted.
The YSR Congress Party condemned the incident and demanded a high-level probe. (INN)
