Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal, on Tuesday, suggested that the police department increase reinforcements in faction-affected areas in Andhra Pradesh that are going to by-elections.
Talking to media persons after a darshan of the Kameswari Devi Temple at Mahanandi in Kurnool district, the CEO said that the police department must strengthen its network in the faction-hit villages of the Rayalaseema region, before the by-elections.
He also called upon the electorate to exercise its franchise in a free and fair manner in the ensuing by-elections.
"The voters must not get lured by the sops offered by parties, and must exercise their rights judiciously," he said.
He also appealed to people to register their names in the voters' list. (INN)
