Former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy is likely to join the BJP.
It is being reported that Reddy has fixed a muhurat to join the saffron party.
State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and the State in-charge of the party Tarun Chug are said to have recently invited Reddy to join their party, and Reddy is said to be joining the party in the presence of a big leader of the party like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah or BJP national president J P Nadda, who is scheduled to visit the city on Thursday.
It is being said that Reddy will join the BJP either on June 30 or on July 2.
Reddy is the grandson of former Deputy Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh K V Ranga Reddy, after whom the district of Ranga Reddy near Hyderabad is named.
Vishweshwar Reddy joined active politics in 2013 on invitation from K Chandrashekar Rao, and contested under the TRS banner and won the Member of Parliament seat from the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency in the 2014 general elections by a margin of over 75,000 votes.
After a fallout with the TRS, Reddy resigned from the TRS in November 2018 and joined the Congress in the presence of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
He later resigned from the Congress, too - in March 2021.
