It is a known fact that the post of the Andhra Pradesh PCC chief is likely to be given to Y S Sharmila, who recently joined the Congress.
According to informed sources, the Congress high command has given its word to her to that effect at the time of joining the party.
However, some party leaders are arguing that Sharmila should not be given the post. Harsha Kumar, a rebel in the AP Congress and a former MP, is openly opposing it.
"Sharmila hails from Telangana. She has nothing to do with Andhra Pradesh. It is not right to hand over the reins of the party here to her. As she is the daughter-in-law of Telangana, don't give her the responsibility of the AP Congress," Kumar said.
Other party leaders and the Congress high command are yet to respond to his remarks.
Gidugu Rudraraju is currently the APCC chief.
After the formation of Telangana State in 2014, the influence of the Congress in AP reduced completely. It did not win a single Assembly or Lok Sabha seat. The Congress high command is aiming to field Sharmila to bring back the party's glory in the next elections in the State.
No announcement has been made on the post so far.
