Ex - Maoist leader Sambasivudu met the Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy on Monday, to pitch for his upcoming Telangana Sadhana Yatra.
The yatra will be held in Bhuvanagiri in Nalgonda district, he said. Accoridng to Sambasivudu, the Home Minister was receptive of his request to grant permission for the yatra, and said that she would definitely look into the matter.
Congress MP Madhu Yashki and Telangana ideologue Prof. Jaishankar are expected to take part in the yatra.
Sambasivudu alias Konapuram Ilaiah was the Maoist State Committee Secretary. He surrendered to the AP police in February 2009, citing reasons of ill-health. He was most wanted by the police in connection with several cases including the failed assassination attempt on the former CM N Chandrababu Naidu, and the and the attack on former CM N Janardhan Reddy in Nellore. He had a Rs. 10 lakh reward on his head at the time.
He was released from jail in February this year. Of the several murder cases against him, he was acquitted in one, and granted bail in 3 others - including murder of former Panchayat Raj Minister A Madhava Reddy, Makthal MLA Chittem Narsireddy and Atmakur sub-inspector Sakir Hussain.
