Former corporator and MIM leader Khaja Bilal Ahmed today tendered his resignation from the party and announced that he would be joining the Congress soon.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Bilal alleged that the MIM had a secret pact with the BJP, and was neglecting the development of the Old City as part of that. The party had also contested the Uttar Pradesh and the Maharashtra elections to ensure a BJP victory in those states, and was using its sway over the Muslims for its own selfish ends, he claimed.
He also said that self-interest was the reason the party was also keeping mum on important issues like bringing the Metro Rail to the Old City and 12% reservation for Muslims.
He held his association with the MIM responsible for the police cancelling his passport, and imposing the Preventive Detention Act and opening a rowdy-sheet against him.
