In a major breakthrough, the Hyderabad city police, on Wednesday, busted a gang that cheated ESI Corporation with fake/forged bills to the tune of Rs. 2 crore.
On a tip-off, the West Zone team of the Commissioner's Task Force arrested 4 persons who submitted fake bills to claim money for supplying medicines to ESI Hospital.
The accused did so in the names of fictitious drugs companies United Medical Pharma Services and Ajay Pharma & Medical Services.
Addressing a press conference, City Police Commissioner A K Khan said that although no drugs were supplied, the bills were submitted and passed, and that money was drawn by them to a tune of Rs. 2 crores, from January to May 2011.
The main accused, Gaddam Vishal Chaitanya, worked as an assistant to the State Medical Commissioner of ESI.
The other accused who were arrested in the case are Syed Waheed, Dantu Srinivas Reddy and Sapada Laxman. Another accused, Gaddam Vishal Kumar, is still absconding. (INN)
