Hyderabad | 8th February 2026
Rowdy sheeter Ayub Khan has been booked on charges of cheating and criminal intimidation at the Shah Ali Banda police station.
A case has been registered against Khan and Mohd Farooq, a resident of Kummarwadi.
According to the complaint, the victim was persuaded to enter into a business partnership in 2024 and invest Rs 4,70,000. The accused allegedly misappropriated the profits and later took gold ornaments weighing about six tolas from the complainant on the pretext of clearing debts. The ornaments were subsequently mortgaged and not returned.
The police said that in January 2025, when the complainant demanded settlement of his dues, Khan allegedly threatened him with dire consequences if he approached the authorities. Fearing retaliation, the complainant did not report the matter until now.
Khan is reportedly a history-sheeter with involvement in 79 previous cases. Special police teams have been formed to trace and arrest him.
Charminar Zone DCP Kiran Khare said that the police would adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards rowdyism, intimidation, extortion and organised crime in the area, and that those attempting to create fear or influence the public would face strict legal action.
The police have urged citizens to share any credible information about Ayub Khan's whereabouts. The informants' identities will be kept confidential.
